The life of Art Garfunkel
Art Garfunkel was born on November 5, 1941, in Forest Hills, New York. His mother was a housewife, and his father was a salesman. He was the middle child of three children. When Garfunkel was only five years old, he discovered his passion for singing. His father bought him a tape recorder, and he would spend countless hours recording and listening to himself singing. When Garfunkel was 13, he performed for his family at his Bar Mitzvah. Art Garfunkel met Paul Simon in the sixth grade, and the two of them regularly performed musical numbers in school programs throughout all of high school. After Garfunkel completed high school, he enrolled at Columbia University to study art history. Then, he got his Master's Degree in mathematics. In 1963, Garfunkel teamed back up with Simon, and they released an album entitled "Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M". This album did not do very well, but the next year, they released the album, "The Sounds of Silence," and this one was much more popular. After that, they released four more albums. Some of their songs such as "I Am A Rock" became billboard hits. The band broke up in 1970, but they have occasionally reunited briefly to give concerts.
