Harper Simon's Early Life and Musical Career

Harper Simon was born in 1972 to Paul Simon and Peggy Harper, Paul Simon's first wife. In his early life and his career, Harper Simon followed his father into the music industry. Categorized in the genres of indie pop and indie rock, Harper Simon continues to work actively as a singer-songwriter. He has also shown an interest in charity work, even participating in charity concerts with his father and other musical artists.

Harper Simon's early life

Harper's Simon's first public performance was with his father, Paul Simon, on an episode of Sesame Street about recording a music album in which they sang "Bingo" together. Some of Harper Simon's early life is referenced in the music of his father, most notably in the songs "Graceland" and "St. Judy's Comet." However, Harper Simon has stated in interviews that he never visited Graceland with his father as the song "Graceland" implies. He attended Boston's Berklee College of Music before leaving for London, England to pursue his music career.

Harper Simon's musical career

In London, Harper started his musical career singing and writing songs for a band called Menlo Park. In 2001, he took a hiatus until 2005, when he appeared in Quantum Shift, a benefit concert that raised money for the 2005 Asian earthquake. He performed alongside his father, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Edie Brickell and Suphala. He released his own eponymously titled album in 2009.

From the age of four, Harper Simon has shown an interest and aptitude for music. Following his father's distinguished career, Harper continues to play an active role in the music industry.
