Simon and Garfunkel are a singing duo featuring singer and songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. The two first came together in 1957 and released their first album in 1964. Over the next six years, Simon and Garfunkel released four more albums and received critical acclaim for their music. The two artists went their separate ways in 1970. However, since that time, Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon have often reunited for single concerts or short tours. One of these tours took place in the early summer of 2009.
Tour dates for 2009
In April of 2009, after performing three songs together at a concert in New York, Simon and Garfunkel announced they would do a brief tour of Australia, New Zealand and Japan. They began the tour in New Zealand, in the middle of June, before playing seven more dates in Australia. They then traveled to Japan during July, where they played five more shows around the country. The duo had not toured Japan since 1993 and had not played in Australia since 1983. Simon and Garfunkel also played together in October of 2009 at a concert in Madison Square Garden in New York, which honored the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
As of 2011, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel continue to create music and art separately. However, they do occasionally reunite for tours, concerts or other special occasions. The music this pair created is both classic and timeless and continues to enthrall audiences of all ages.
